Magnesium hydroxide is a commonly used chemical raw material with wide applications. It can be used as a flame retardant, as well as in the production of magnesium salts, sugar refining, pharmaceutical industry, and daily chemical industry. Among them, active magnesium hydroxide is an excellent flame retardant with three functions of flame retardancy, smoke suppression, and filling in the rubber and plastic industry. Active magnesium hydroxide has excellent buffering performance, reactivity, adsorption capacity, and thermal decomposition performance. It can be used as a chemical material and intermediate, as well as a green and environmentally friendly flame retardant and additive. In the field of environmental protection, it is mainly used as a flame retardant, acidic wastewater treatment agent, heavy metal removal agent, and flue gas desulfurization agent.
The magnesium hydroxide desulfurization process has been widely used. The use of magnesium for flue gas desulfurization first began in Japan, and then began to be used in Europe and America. Japan began to use magnesium agent flue gas desulfurization in the mid-1970s, and this technology was widely popularized in the 1990s. Currently, this technology has developed into a relatively mature desulfurization process in Japan.
